Annual Award Ceremony honours service and commitment

On the 8th of May the Northern Cape Region hosted the Annual Award Ceremony at the Rooifontein Farm . Multiple Scout Groups received their Star Awards for their implementation of SCOUTS SA’s programmes.

The following members were issued with Certificates of Thanks from Chief Scout Brendon Hausberger for their services rendered to the Movement and the public during the Covid pandemic:

  • Lenah Bahule
  • Tshegofatso Beesnaar
  • Darren Heins
  • Moylalepule Jacobs
  • Kagiso (Peace) Makoloi
  • Philani Mgoma
  • Mantele Mokgoro
  • Lesego Ramothwala

One of the highlights of the occassion was when we got to honour the longest serving and active member of the Northern Cape Region, John Cedani, who was awarded the 50 year bar of Service to the Movement. Due to the Covid pandemic members could not celebrate this remarkable achievement last year.

Regional Commissioner Nolan van der Merwe thanked John Cedani for his selfless service. The Region has been built on the foundation John and others have been building over the years. Mrs Cedani was also thanked in her absence for her support to John.

Chief Commissioner Gary Pienaar was also in attendance. During his visit to the Northern Cape he facilitated a Tide Turners training and engaged with members during the course of the day.
